After discovering how well lupini flakes work as a replacement for beans in chili, I wanted to create a keto instant pot chili that was easier and healthier than my original keto chili recipe (Meaty Keto Chili).
Dozens of batches of chili were happily consumed by my family as I experimented with different flavor combinations. This keto instant pot chili has a depth of flavor that doesn’t require it to be so spicy it makes your eyes water. Although, you can choose to increase the chili powder and jalapenos if you’re looking for that type of flavor.
I’ve also added in some diced portabellas, which absorb the flavors and give this chili an added layer of nutrition. Portabellas are a rich source of antioxidants, beta-glucan, B vitamins, selenium, copper, and potassium. I like to sneak these into my cooking in ways the family doesn’t even notice.
In this recipe, I’ve used Chili 9000 from Penzys. I’ve used Penzy’s spices for as long as I can remember and when this blend came out I just had to get it into my order. We found it’s the perfect blend of spices for our keto instant pot chili! If you want a little more heat, try adding in a teaspoon of smoky chipotle powder.

What Are Lupini Flakes?
The lupini bean is a low-carb superfood in the same food family as chickpeas and lentils. It’s the perfect base for this keto superfood oatmeal. Each ¼ cup serving of lupini flakes has only 1 net carb making it the perfect replacement for oats, rice, pasta, couscous, or lentils. Plus, it’s packed full of protein, fiber, and antioxidants to support your wellness.
We’ve taste-tested multiple brands of lupin flakes and prefer the creamy flavor of Aviate Lupini Flakes. To purchase Aviate Lupini Flakes, click here and use coupon code TARAKETO20 to save 15% off your purchase.

My New Favorite Instant Pot
I’ve worked with five different brands of electric pressure cookers over the years, and have settled on a favorite. The brand 1829 Carl Schmidt Sohn has what I think is the best All-In-One Pressure Cooker on the market. It came with an Air Fryer lid as well which makes it very flexible. I was able to get rid of my crockpot, rice cooker, and may small air fryer! The timing is great as we have kids moving into apartments and they were able to take the old stuff I no longer need cluttering up my kitchen.
My favorite part of this pressure cooker just might be the non-stick inner pot. It’s incredibly easy to clean and turns out fantastic tasting food. I’m really impressed with this brand. We started by using their pans and I’ve become a loyal customer. Look for more recipes featuring this brand coming soon.
