This keto peppermint frosting recipe is very flexible and boasts 1 carb per serving (wow!). Are you looking for JUST a vanilla frosting? No problem...Just omit the peppermint and you'll have keto vanilla frosting.
Now, let's talk peppermint. One of my all-time favorite flavors.... especially paired with anything chocolate.
I am obsessed with my dark chocolate cupcakes topped with this creamy keto peppermint frosting. I've used Young Living Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil to create a crisp and refreshing sugar-free peppermint frosting.
Don't worry though, you can use peppermint extract instead... which also has peppermint oil in it. I'll provide the substitution in the recipe below.
Tips For Making Keto Frosting
I made this keto peppermint frosting one day and couldn't get it to whip up right because I had forgotten to warm my cream cheese and butter. It was the middle of winter and the house was 65 degrees.
You can learn from my mistake by always warming your ingredients, especially when it's cold!
All you need to do to rectify this mistake is to warm your ingredients gently in the microwave. Then, whip it up again and you'll get a smooth and creamy keto frosting.
Use BochaSweet
Our sugar substitute of choice is BochaSweet and there's good reason for this!
BochaSweet is extracted from the Kabocha pumpkin which has been a staple in the Japanese diet for centuries. Consuming BochaSweet on a daily basis helps to support longevity and supports healthy blood sugar levels.
Even better? It tastes almost exactly like real sugar. There's no thin flavor or metallic aftertaste. I think most of us are looking for something that tastes amazing because only a full, satisfying taste is going to work over the long-term.
So, if we are going to go to all the work to make these keto parfaits so we can please our tastebuds AND stick to our keto diet. Well, we want the result to taste GOOD not... just 'meh' and unsatisfying. For this reason plus the health benefits, we reach for BochaSweet every time.
