There are a few different ways you can create a natural and non-toxic fabric softener using Thieves Essential Oil. This post is part of my Thieves Cleaner series. You'll find some related posts at the bottom of this article.
We like to use Thieves around our home because of it's fresh, uplifting smell and it's powerful cleaning properties.
Natural Fabric Softener with Thieves: 2 Ways
The Woolen Dryer Ball Method
The first recipe uses a natural woolen dryer ball and Thieves Essential Oil.
When you place your clean clothes in the dryer, simply add a few drops of Thieves oil to your woolen dryer balls and place them in the dryer. Dry as normal. Woolen dryer balls will also help speed up your drying time! The trick is to not lose them in your kids laundry 😉
Liquid Fabric Softener with Thieves Oil
The second option is a liquid fabric softener you can add directly to your washing machine.
Simply take a large mason jar and add 3 c White Vinegar, ¼ c Rubbing Alcohol (or vodka), and 20 drops of Thieves oil (you can also use other oils such as Purification or lavender). Shake vigorously before use.
When you're ready to use your homemade fabric softener with Thieves Oil, shake and then measure ½-¾ cup. Add this amount to your fabric softener dispenser in your washing machine and proceed as usual.
Your clothes will come out soft and smelling fresh and clean! We also sometimes use Purification Essential Oil instead of Thieves.
