The Cleaning Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Due to its antimicrobial properties, Apple Cider Vinegar is a fantastic cleaning agent. Raw, unfiltered vinegar contains all the bacteria fighting benefits that most commercial vinegars lack.

First, make sure you have a Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with “The Mother” in it. The Mother is a cloudy substance you’ll notice inside of it. Trap Fruit Flies
You know those annoying, pesky fruit flies that raid your home in the summer? Apple cider vinegar is a solution we used to use. Simply pour ACV into an open cup or bowl and add a drop or two of dish detergent.

These days we diffuse essential oils and the fruit flies have disappeared from the house. Our favorite Young Living Essential Oils to Diffuse in the Spring & Summer is a blend of Rosemary and Lemongrass.

Non-Toxic Cleaner
Use a 1:1 mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and Distilled water to make an effective, natural cleaner. You can use it around your home with no worries of getting sick due to chemicals unlike other cleaning products.

Odor Neutralizer
Place some apple cider vinegar in a dish and leave near the offensive odor to help get rid of it quicker.
While this is a trick we used to use, these days we simply diffuse Young Living Essential Oils. Much less mess and the house always smells fantastic.

Remove Coffee or Tea Stains from Dishes
This is a really cool trick I remember my great-grandmother showing me. Scrub the dishes with a 1:1 ratio of ACV to Salt. This worked great on my grandma’s corelle dishes!

Clean Your Washing Machine
Instead of using the chemical-laden “cleaners” to clean your washing machine. Simply pour in 2 cups of vinegar into the drum of your washing machine and run a full load. Some washing machines have a “clean” setting. If yours has it, use that setting.
